The 2004 vintage
In 2004, days of sun were frequently followed by days of rain, and temperatures never rose to high levels. The vineyards benefited from a constant water supply, and were never subjected to periods of stress. The month of September provided a perfect climate for the vine, and contributed largely to producing a wine with an ample aromatic framework and good alcohol-acid balance in its structure.
Vineyard
The Barbaresco docg 2004  is made by the blend of the Nebbiolo grape grown in our vineyards from the Faset hill (260 m.sl.m) faces East, South-East and the Rabajà hill faces South-West. The soil is formed by white earth, with a high chalky clay content , known as the “Marne di Sant’Agata”. From this kind of soil we obtain wines rich in texture and with a good potential of ageing.

Picking and maceration
The harvest took place by hand on September 26th 2004, with selection of the bunches. The maceration in stainless steel lasted 21 days, with punching down of the cap until the fermentation had ended.

Ageing
The wine was aged for 19 months in large oak casks and 6 months in steel tanks, followed by 10 months in the bottle prior to its release.

Bottling
The wine was bottled without filtration on July 6th 2006, with lot no. L06-187.The total production in the 2004 vintage was:5428 Albeisa bottles holding 0.75 l.

Tasting notes
Ruby red with the nuances that are typical of a vintage Nebbiolo. Fresh and clean on the nose, which conjures up ripe red fruit blending perfectly with the aromas resulting from the maturing of the wine in big wooden casks. Appealing acidity and a nicely tannic finish make this wine easy to drink, with good length.
