Vineyard
The grapes for this wine are grown on two vineyards located in the commune of Verduno: one in the Massara area, covering 1.24 hectares (240 m. a.s.l.) on parcels 137p (planted in 1988), 197p (planted in 1972) and 200p (planted in 2001) on land registry map sheet X; the other of 0.37,15 hectares in the Olmo district (340m. a.s.l.), on parcels 299p, 303p and 345 of map sheet VIII (planted in 1989).
The total surface area of 1.61,15 hectares is dedicated 100% to the growing of the Pelaverga piccolo variety.The vineyards face south-east, on white soil of a mainly calcareous and clayey composition.
Picking and maceration
The grapes were picked by hand, and placed into perforated boxes with careful selection of the bunches on September 8th and 19th 2005. The maceration in steel lasted 6 days.
Ageing
The wine matured for 9 months in steel tanks, part of it aged for 3 months in large oak casks, and 3 months in the bottle before its release.
Bottling
Bottling took place without filtration on July 6th 2007, with lot no. L07-01.
The 2006 production totalled 12.700 x 0.75 l. Albeisa bottles plus 336 x 0.375 l. bottles.
Tasting notes
Soft, though bright ruby red. Intense fragrant nose, showing clear spicy overtones of black pepper and nutmeg, as well as fruity sensations reminiscent of cherries in spirit and strawberries. Nicely-balanced, lingering dry flavour.
